Don’t fool yourself

Do not weave a tapestry of deceit,
a web spun with lies in the hope of my naivety.
Here, within these walls, resides
only the barren promise you offer:
hollow illusions built on a sand foundation,
a mirage shimmering in desert of untruth.

Let us abandon this futile game of verification
– the “who,” “how,” “when,” and “where” are questions
by themselves are a tempest, a blind belief
that only exacerbate the ephemeral nature.

It is time for a reprieve, a pause in charade,
empty words barren, speak louder than action
stark testament, while our deeds betray us
ashes of affection lie upon marble.

I make and punish myself in my final verse
shaking you with their fleeting existence,
lying behind deception at spirit is bereft,
within the embers searing fire persists
waiting etched with the ink of my pain.

Vessel depleted, devoid of lightness
remnants of what we once were.
because defy the sacred in every way
I will even blaspheme for you.

Who, how, when, where. Unfortunately displaced by “how much” too often.

Well, if you are not a humanist in Latin America, perhaps the answer does not matter so much. Haha!
